Teachers Wanted - Homestay Language Tutors

The Eurolingua Institute is always interested in hearing from well-qualified and experienced one-to-one homestay language tutors who can provide suitable, full-board student accommodation in their own home, in a friendly homestay family atmosphere.

Eurolingua students are 16 to 75 years, all levels from beginners to very advanced (teenagers, business professionals, retirees etc) and all nationalities. Tutors must be prepared to meet their student guest at the airport/railway station; give 10, 15 or 20 hours per week of individual tuition for 1 to 4 weeks, at any time of year; take the student on local excursions and visits; and involve the student in all aspects of their family's social and leisure activities.

Only tutors qualified and/or experienced in teaching their native language (English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish or Swedish) to non-native speakers will be considered.

New programme for 2008:
Short 2-week French course, followed by volunteer work in France. A great adventure for young people looking for something different.

Young people from across the world will spend 2 or 3 weeks together as volunteers. During this time, the group of international volunteers will work closely with local organisations on a project of benefit to the local community. All projects are socially relevant - for example, improving existing hiking paths or laying new paths, cleanup of nature reserves, renovation work on an education centre, construction work on a youth centre, assisting in the planning, organisation and holding of cultural events, etc. Depending on project size, 5 to 20 volunteers will form a group which will work and live together for the duration of the workcamp.

French Hotel and Tourism Certificate (CFTH)

The French Hotel and Tourism Certificate (Certificat de Français du Tourisme et de l'Hôtellerie CFTH) consists of a 10-week, 350 hours, full-time French language training programme for the Hotel and Tourism industry, bringing participants upto a B1 Level on the European Scale (http://www.eurolingua.com/Language_Level_Gradings.htm). This means that candidates with only an elementary knowledge of French may start the programme. Success in the Paris Chamber of Commerce examinations will certify a B1 Level. Candidates who can already demonstrate a B1 Level can enrol on a shorter 3-week preparation programme leading up to the same Paris Chamber of Commerce examination dates.

The programme takes place at the Eurolingua Institute in Montpellier, South of France, with start dates on the 1st October 2007, 21st January 2008, 25th February 2008, 31st March 2008, 14th July 2008, and the 29th September 2008. For an accommodation supplement, we can also offer sessions for incoming groups at our Eurolingua Méditerranée Sète campus, a magnificent fully residential, 7½ acre (3 hectare) coastal resort site, just outside Montpellier, set in pinewoods and with direct access to the beach. For candidates who wish to enter the examinations, the Paris Chamber of Commerce registration procedures and corresponding examination fees must be completed and paid at least six weeks in advance of the required examination date.

Please use the online Application Form to provide us with your student profile for consideration. Please also send a comprehensive and up to date CV in French, showing the French studies already undertaken with copies of any certificates (Alliance Française etc) and any hotel and hospitality experience, together with a portrait style photo. These items are important for visa application support procedures.

Following your success in the Paris Chamber of Commerce examination, you may also be eligible to undertake a paid hotel internship in the South of France, subject to the usual visa conditions at the French Embassy.
